What do Cupid and artist Michael Fernandes have in common? Their handiwork with a bow and arrow could be found at MASS MoCA on Valentine’s Day! The museum sold out its first ever Date Night last night, while decked out with handmade heart paper garlands and pink and white balloons. Rumor has it, one couple even got engaged at the event!
Upon arrival, our twenty-eight registered couples were invited to take a quiet stroll through the museum and were offered an envelope of Valentine cards. On each of those Valentine cards was a fun activity they could do with their partner making one another a boutonniere or corsage and take a spin around the dance floor to some 80s prom music; couples meditation; making collages representing memories pairs have of each other.
Couples also enjoyed a candlelit dinner at Lickety Split, our café, with a special Sweetheart Menu (the chocolate mousse caught my eye!) and a full bar serving up love potion cocktails, like the Be Mine Mojito. Parents could drop their children off at Kidspace, where kids had their own fun-filled night at the museum, complete with art-making activities. A good time was had by all, and we can’t wait for next Valentine’s Day to do it all again.
