To help celebrate MASS MoCA’s 25th anniversary, Tricia Brown Dance Company activated our 24-acre campus in three monumental performances: one selection of iconic choreographies throughout our galleries during our Benefit Dinner, and two performances of Roof Piece (1971) which blazed across our roofs, outdoor artworks, and bridges, highlighting the physical structure that anchors MASS MoCA’s place as one of America’s (and the world’s) most unique art institutions.
Originally performed across the rooftops of SoHo in 1971, Roof Piece is a work that forever changed the relationship the notion of dance’s relationship to the environment in which it’s performed.
