“They are not merely the world’s best hip-hop band—but one of the great musical outfits of our time.” — Rolling Stone
Well before becoming America’s house band—producing dance-along viral videos on Jimmy Fallon with Adele and President Barack Obama—The Roots were reinventing hip-hop. Upholding the genre as “history and outcry” (The New York Times) while remaking it for a live band, this iconic crew lands somewhere between a soul-funk revue and organic hip-hop jazz troupe. With a curtain call that includes a sousaphone, flute, trumpet, saxophone, keyboard, bass, and guitars not to mention Questlove on drums and Black Thought on vocals, The Roots’ live shows are sprawling, frenetic, and spectacular—a living musical history of soul to hip-hop.
Purchased tickets for The Roots 2021 concert will be transferred to the rescheduled 2022 date—no action is necessary. If you are unable to attend on the new date, please email boxoffice@massmoca.org by March 8 to receive a refund or credit.
