Raja Feather Kelly is a choreographer, director, and the artistic director of the feath3r theory –a Brooklyn-based dance-theatre-media company that he founded in 2009. Over the past decade he has created 16 evening-length works with the feath3r theory to critical acclaim, most recently WEDNESDAY (New York Live Arts), the UGLY trilogoy (Bushwick Starr, New York Live Arts, and ImPulsTanz), and The Kill One Race – part documentary, part theatre, part reality TV game show (filmed at Playwrights Horizon).

In his own words, Kelly’s practice “identifies and magnifies opportunities where popular culture and human desire intersect…The aim is to challenge our audience to recognize their own implication in popular media: how media has trained and molded their desires, relationships, and identities.”

Kelly and feath3r theory spent a week in-residence at MASS MoCA working on the ensemble devised dance-theater production and installation BUNNY BUNNY. In progress since 2017, BUNNY BUNNY explores themes of desire and surveillance, telling a fictional story based on the real-life events of six bunny rabbits who are stuck in a house. They work together, and have their lives taped ,and find out what happens when bunnies stop being polite and start getting real. Reality TV meets McCarthyism meets the human condition in imagined and anthropomorphic realities.

BUNNY BUNNY premiered at The Invisible Dog in Brooklyn in March 2025.
