Pledges of Allegiance, a project of Creative Time in NYC, was a serialized commission of sixteen flags, each created by an acclaimed artist, aiming to inspire political participation across cultural institutions and their communities. We raised 4 flags in spring 2018.

Each flag pointed to an issue that the individual artist was passionate about, a cause they believed is worth fighting for. Conceived in response to the current fraught political climate, Pledges of Allegiance aimed to inspire a sense of democratic spirit and community among cultural institutions and their public.

A Members Opening Reception was held on Saturday, March 24, at 5:30pm.

Major exhibition support is provided by the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation, the Barr Foundation, and the Mass Cultural Council.
