MASS MoCA toasts a future of art partnerships at its annual fall benefit on Monday, October 19, at 583 Park Avenue in New York City. Artist Jenny Holzer and experimental music pioneer Laurie Anderson, who both take residence at the museum when it debuts its Phase III expansion in 2017, co-chair this year’s gala, along with artist Mike Glier and supporters Bridget and Donald Fawcett.
Red Baraat is a rollicking, brass-driven band from Brooklyn that infuses funk with North Indian bhangra beats, spiced with a dash of go-go, jazz, and hip-hop. NPR calls them “one of the best party bands around,” so brace yourself for this exhilarating nine-piece group that practically stole the show during President Obama’s inaugural celebration.
