Tanja Hollander

  • NYC Benefit Auction 2017

  • Tribeca Rooftop

New commission
Archival pigment print
30 × 30 inches on 36 × 36-inch paper
Edition 1/10

In Are you really my friend?, on view now at MASS MoCA, photographer Tanja Alexia Hollander set out to differentiate the actual from the virtual by photographing all of her Facebook friends. For the installation, she traveled the globe to find her “friends” and discover the ways in which friendship is defined. The winner of this lot receives a sitting in their home with the photographer, an editioned print, and four 5” × 7” prints.

Portions of Hollander’s Are you really my friend? have been exhibited at the Portland Museum of Art, Maine, and Virei Viral, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Receiving international media attention for this project, Hollander has given a TEDxDirigo talk on the subject, and lectured extensively at the University of Maryland, Clemson University, SXSW, and Facebook headquarters.

If the portrait setting is outside metropolitan New York or Maine, additional travel costs are the responsibility of the lot winner.
