The High Mud Comedy Festival, a two-day laugh-fest featuring a pile of performers thick with national comedic treasures and local stand-up heroes, returns to North Adams this spring.
Unapologetically smart and goofy comedian Phoebe Robinson of cult-inspiring podcast 2 Dope Queens headlines the festival, hosted by the charmingly deadpan comic/writer/actor/guitar hero/man-about-town Dave Hill.
Curated by funnyman Thomas Attila Lewis, local and regional comedians include Mike Lebovitz, Julie Kottakis, Maggie Crane, Ryan Shea, Jenny Rubin, and Dylan Carlino, with more to be announced soon.
Dave Hill and Julie Kottakis lead funny museum tours in MASS MoCA’s galleries on Saturday night and Hill and Lewis host an adventure in beer tasting at Bright Ideas Brewery on Friday and Saturday.
On Saturday, Jordan Carlos hosts a workshop about comedy in the time of Trump and High Mud encourages you to get off your couch and come watch a selection of fan-favorite episodes of the acclaimed web series High Maintenance, handpicked by series creators Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfeld.
Post-mainstage, late-night gigs at local venues — including Desperados and the Freight Yard Pub — will feature local talent. Common Folk Fools (featuring Tim Martin, Luke Tobin, and Dylan Girouard) entertain in the lobby between acts.

What to Expect
It’s a festival!
Take your time exploring North Adams and MASS MoCA; you never know where comedy might pop up throughout the weekend. Museum galleries open until 7pm on Saturday.
Food from our museum café is available throughout the day, and, as promised, we’ll have plenty of good beer on tap, and our full bar is always well-stocked.
The venue, MASS MoCA’s Hunter Center, is general admission. Preferred ticket seats are located in the first rows of the venue—first come, first serve in the preferred section.
All tickets are non-refundable. Late-night revues with local talent take place throughout our home city of North Adams. Word to the wise: High Mud might get dirty; this festival is best suited for audiences 16 and up.
Sponsored by The Porches Inn at MASS MoCA.
