Gregg August, Ken Thomson and friends

Clarinetist and composer Ken Thomson performs burst for clarinet and prerecorded backing track and Uneasy with Todd Reynolds, violin; Nick Photinos, cello; Karl Larson, piano. Gregg August (bass) performs a new piece for solo bass called Les Feuilles Mortes-From Sam Jones to Israel Crosby, based on the bass line introduction of Autumn Leaves, played by Sam Jones on Cannonball Adderly’s record Something Else (1958), and the similar phrase played by Israel Crosby with the Ahmad Jamal Trio on Portfolio of Ahmad Jamal (1958). Gregg also will perform Mama Abuela, a traditional Cuban Yambú melody featuring the Cuban percussionist Mauricio Herrera.
