Me and the Music marks a turn from the heaviness of 2023’s Supermodels, after Claud let go of a years-long “situationship” that shaped their first two records. On the title track, they sing “this is the last song I let you ruin” — and meant it, writing 90% of the album in the year that followed. “It released a lot of regret I was carrying,” Claud says. “Making music is so fun.”
The result is a slice-of-life record that stays playful even while reckoning with hard feelings — from the magic-and-resilience romance of opener “Gay Witchcraft,” to lead single “She Doesn’t Love Me,” a driving anthem about being queer and trans in America. Produced by Claud and John Congleton (Alvvays, St. Vincent), it’s Claud’s first outing as a true co-producer.
About the Artist
Claud Mintz is a 27-year-old Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter-producer. Their debut album, Super Monster (2021), was followed by 2023’s acclaimed Supermodels; Me and the Music is their third full-length. Claud is also one-quarter of Shelly, the band they founded with Clairo, Noa Getzug, and Josh Mehling — whose 2020 debut single went gold, followed by 2025’s Shelly 2. They have collaborated extensively with producer John Congleton and songwriter Dan Nigro (Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan), and are signed to Jack Antonoff’s publishing venture.
