All are invited as we welcome Little Amal to North Adams. Amal – whose name means “hope” in Arabic – is an internationally celebrated 12-foot-tall puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee girl. She has been welcomed by more than 250 uniquely created artistic events across the globe since 2021.

As Amal approaches MASS MoCA’s gates, she wonders, “What is this place, and is it for me?” Join her to experience the sights, sounds, and energy of North Adams’ vibrant community.

ART-MAKING IN COURTYARD A
Join us in Courtyard A for art-making in preparation for Little Amal’s arrival! We will have instrument and mask projects for all ages that you can use to contribute to Little Amal’s procession and performance.

WALK WITH AMAL: MUSICAL MYSTICAL TOUR
Gather in Courtyard A and join Amal, and some fantastical forest creatures created by Julian Crouch, in community music making led by Mark Stewart.

What to Expect
The program is free for all and general admission. The program will take place outside in MASS MoCA’s courtyard and grounds. The event will be held rain or shine. Follow MASS MoCA on social media (@massmoca) for updates.

MASS MoCA, is a partner of Amal Walks Across America by The Walk Productions in association with Handspring Puppet Company and is hosting this free public event as part of her 6,000-mile national tour comprising more than 100 events in 35 cities and towns across the US from Boston to San Diego.
