In March 2004, the chief of staff of Joint Task Force Guantanamo ordered an investigation into allegations that a detainee had been abused by military police officers at the prison. The American Civil Liberties Union subsequently obtained the 71-page investigation report, which includes this sworn statement. In it, an MP describes a detainee engaging in small acts of resistance: refusing to wear his standard-issue flip-flops, purposely walking through a puddle with his guards, and singing Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.”
