The eleven-piece Debo Band expands upon the repertoire of Ethiopia’s golden era of Afro-pop. The band’s 2012 debut, released on Sub Pop to huge acclaim, offers some of the most infectious groove-based Ethio-funk ever recorded. You will dance!
Join us before the show for an opening reception celebrating three new exhibitions: Alex Da Corte: Free Roses, Sarah Crowner: Beetle in the Leaves, and The Space Between from 5 to 6:30pm in the galleries.
What to expect
Come early if you want to secure a seat — we’re going to clear out some chairs to make room to dance for this one. The café will be open for dinner before (and during!) the show, and the beer will surely flow.
