MASS MoCA is committed to continuing to build a culture where our employees feel valued and respected, and have the opportunity to contribute to the mission and grow as professionals. While we recognize the challenges we face as an institution, we believe in our staff and in our ability to meet these challenges together. We respect the choice to unionize and look forward to working with UAW Local 2110 in continuing to cultivate an inclusive, diverse, and sustainable workplace.

MASS MoCA’s employees are the heart and soul of our institution, and they have the right to choose whether to unionize or not through a democratic process. MASS MoCA’s leadership and Board respect this right and will not oppose or in any way interfere with efforts to organize.
Should MASS MoCA’s employees vote to certify UAW as their union, we have every reason to anticipate excellent labor-management relations, and we will work toward the negotiation of a collective bargaining agreement that is in the shared interest of the institution, our valued staff, and other dedicated stakeholders. Regardless of the outcome of the election, we are committed to ensuring a culture of transparency and accountability and will continue our work together toward an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future for MASS MoCA and the city of North Adams.
We expect an election and outcome in the month of April and we will keep our community informed throughout this process.
