What is the groove? How do you find it? And how important is it in self-expression? In Dance Within Your Dance, choreographer Tatiana Desardouin invites the audience to connect with the techniques, rhythms, and essence of hip-hop and house dance styles. Not just a simple aesthetic, “the groove” is the soul of street and club dance. A coalescing of community, fashion, training, introspection, liberation, and individual journeys, in this performance Passion Fruit explores how the groove can be a road map to social justice through the physical expression of Black culture.
The performance is a revised excerpt of the original piece, transformed into a duet with Lauriane Ogay (from Switzerland) and Tatiana Desardouin (Haitian in origin, born and raised in Switzerland). This version will include a small photo exhibition on the groove by Lauriane Ogay. The performance will be followed by a lecture from the artists.
