Gemelo, the new record from the beguiling Mexican-Salvadoran American sonic experimentalist Angélica Garcia, is a vibrant, prismatic hybrid-pop masterpiece that channels the sounds and moods of Kali Uchis, Rosalía, and Kate Bush. It follows her 2020 breakthrough Cha Cha Palace, which included the hit “Jícama” (featured on Barack Obama’s best-of year-end playlist) and launched her into opening for tastemakers like Mitski and Nilüfer Yanya.
