  • Friday, April 10, 7pm

Organized in collaboration with high school art teachers principals and artists in the northern Berkshires the 5th annual Teen Invitational brings local students artwork to the public. Students from seven high schools are eligible to submit artwork through the schools for a pop-up exhibition at the museum including Drury High School and McCann Technical School in North Adams; BART and Hoosac Valley High School in Adams; Buxton School Pine Cobble School and Mt. Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown.

Many of the students participating in the Teen Invitational have taken formal art classes in school but those just testing the waters in the arts are encouraged to submit work as well. The goal of the Invitational is to reach all students who are engaged by art and who have made excellent work inside or outside of school settings. A panel of MASS MoCA staff area artists and teachers judge the work and cash prizes are awarded to the schools art departments. The work will remain on view at MASS MoCA through the weekend with an opening event on Friday, April 10. Doors open at 7pm with the awards ceremony at 7:30pm and local high school band The Grizzlies performing at 8pm.
