The "Text/ile Library" in "Jimena Sarno: Rhapsody" invites viewers into a space where textiles can be read as much as they are seen. A play on the words “text” and “textile,” both rooted in the Greek word "textere," meaning to weave — Sarno honors the medium as a carrier of knowledge, memory, and identity.
Scaled to the dimensions of the Sarno`s own studio, the floor within the space is marked with tape outlining tools like a loom and pottery wheel — offering a glimpse into the process that brought these works to life.

Now playing ▶️ “Leftovers” by Black Belt Eagle Scout and Mato Wayuhi
Black Belt Eagle Scout and Mato Wayuhi, with Ailani, are invited by Jeffrey Gibson to engage with his installation "POWER FULL BECAUSE WE’RE DIFFERENT" through an evening-length performance in MASS MoCA’s Club B10 on February 7.
The night unfolds as one seamless set — from Mato Wayuhi’s songs to KP + Mato collaborations, and closing out with Black Belt Eagle Scout — weaving together their voices, styles, and energy into a shared celebration of sound and collaboration.

Recently on view, “Zora J Murff: RACE/HUSTLE” is a call looking for an answer.
Using photography, collage, and, for the first time, installation, Murff hopes to move viewers to examine the roots of the freedoms promised by official narratives in the United States through his work, revealing the ways that definitions of freedom can shape or hurt those seeking it.

On this #InternationalChoreographersDay, we’re taking a look at both our recent past and near future with groundbreaking choreographer and artistic director of TRIBE arts collective, Shamel Pitts!
In 2022, in collaboration with Jacob’s Pillow, TRIBE took to the Hunter Center stage for the sold out world premiere of “Touch of RED,” a piece that reimagines the boxing ring from a space of duels to one of duets.
Since, Pitts has continued creating work in his “RED Series,” and will return to MASS MoCA to present its fourth work, “Marks of RED,” an Afrofuturistic meditation on the “womb space,” at a work-in-progress showing on March 7, co-presented by Jacob`s Pillow.

On February 28, multi-instrumentalist and composer Cochemea Gastelum will join us in Club B10 for the next installment in MASS MoCA’s series highlighting some of the best and brightest in contemporary jazz.
Music is in Cochemea`s blood. For over 25 years, he’s built a singular, genre-spanning career — from his long tenure with Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings to work with Kevin Morby, Run The Jewels, Jon Batiste, Amy Winehouse, The Roots, and more.

By entwining the previously buried dreams of visitors, Pebworth hopes that their co-mingling will bring them one step closer to taking root, to fruition.

Seen through a recent visitor’s lens, these film photographs offer a unique perspective of MASS MoCA — capturing some of the architecture, light, and scale in analog form.

As we approach the end of 2025, we’re reflecting on the past year and past exhibitions.
In Anish Kapoor’s sculpture "Untitled" (2012), a vast, mirrored surface bends light, space, and perception — at times reflecting the viewer back in fragments, and at other times making them disappear entirely. This work is described by Kapoor as “active,” and "to be in various states of becoming."
We’re carrying this same sentiment into 2026 — may the new year bring you moments of reflection, transformation, and space for becoming.
