Support Kid Koala’s Space Cadet
residency at MASS MoCA

Do you love having performing artists develop new work while in residence at MASS MoCA? Would you like to help alternative DJ/turntablist/comic book artist Kid Koala develop a new show at MASS MoCA this December?

NME describes Kid Koala (a.k.a. Eric San) as “a cuddly Pokémon furball of hamster-cheeked, Stuart Mogwai-tastic, Chinese-Canadian DJ action with a permanent grin and a winning formula for club crowds: keep them moving, keep them laughing, keep them guessing.” His latest project, Space Cadet, is a comic book and soundtrack about the first space flight of a young girl astronaut and her lifelong friendship with a wise robot. On Saturday, December 11, 2010, Kid Koala will perform the soundtrack on six turntables and a piano, while images from the comic book are recreated live as light drawings on custom-made screens in MASS MoCA’s Hunter Center.

For a pledge of $15 or more, you can support Space Cadet and receive unique rewards: free downloads, limited-edition prints of Space Cadet illustrations, concert tickets, admission passes, and more!

We have until September 1 to meet or exceed our fundraising goal of $5,400, or all pledges are cancelled, so make your pledge now. It’s easy to get started—you just need a major credit card and an Amazon Payments account. All donations will help fund residency and production costs, including artist housing and accommodations, equipment, and technical services.

Other ways you can help:

  • Spread the word! Share our project on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or your personal blog, or email the link to friends.
  • Create your own Kickstarter account (which is free and only takes a few minutes), follow our project, and post comments on our page.

If you have questions or are interested in other ways of supporting this residency, please contact Daryn Glassbrook.
