Nation Beat's totally original 21st-century fusion of thunderous Brazilian maracatu drumming, New Orleans rhythms, Appalachian music, funk, and country-blues brings a wild energy to the stage, and inevitably to the dance floor, too. The band's played with Willie Nelson as well as in Brazil with legendary Mestre Walter and Maracatu Nação Estrela Brilhant. NPR Music raves: "American and Brazilian musicians have been finding common ground since jazz artists turned to bossa nova 50 years ago, but the result has never sounded quited like this."
