The Jimmies in concert

Saturday, June 16, 2012, 11:30 am
Club B-10
$8 per person

Get your spunky, funky, pop-rock loving inner eight-year-old ready for this kindie (translation: kid indie) band that has been heard all over the country, including at Lollapalooza, Musikfest, and Austin City Limits, playing a sweet mix of “clever, creative music [that] gets kids rocking” and “heavy guitar groove [that] hooks in parents as well” (New York Daily News). The Jimmies began as the creation of Ashley Albert -- daughter of music producer Howard Albert -- who is The Jimmies’ lead singer and songwriter. While membership in the band has been fairly fluid, with the so-called ‘guys in ties’ coming and going as their musical careers lead them, Albert has remained the ever-present frontwoman.

The Jimmies songs are simple, catchy, and quirky, and just as fun to watch as they are to hear — most are accompanied by a fun music video. Albert’s approach to kindie music also includes creative, belly-laugh-inspiring props, such as a groundhog puppet and a bubble gun. The indie music experts at Zoo Globble hail Albert as “kindie’s Lucille Ball." The Jimmies’ album Practically Ridiculous won a Parents’ Choice Gold Award and was also chosen by TimeOutNY Kids as one of the top CDs of 2011.
