Artist Talk with Edward Burtynsky

  • Archive, Archive, Education-featured

  • Thursday, June 26, 2008, 8pm
  • Club B10

In conjunction with Eastern Standard, celebrated Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky will discuss his work and travels. The artist has documented China’s fast-paced urbanization and industrialization in lush, color photographs whose formal beauty often stands in sharp contrast to the stark realities of the consumer culture they depict. He has described his works — and the tension they create between attraction and repulsion — as “metaphors for the dilemma of modern existence.” Tour Eastern Standard if you haven’t already had the chance.

Galleries are open until 6:30pm. Seating is limited and tickets are required, please reserve in advance.

Come early: Lickety Split serves dinner, snacks, and ice cream before the show or visit Cafe Latino on the MASS MoCA campus. There are also many great restaurants in North Adams that are within walking distance of the campus.
